What is a Parish Plan?

In short, a Parish Plan is a document, which outlines the present community. It creates a template for the future of the Parish, which can be used as Supplementary Planning Guidance by the Isle of Wight Council Planning Department. It lays out the opinions, hopes and aspirations of the whole community. Once the plan has been completed, it will highlight a number of projects that can be undertaken in the parish.

The initial consultation for the parish plan has taken place a draft is with councillors now (Feb 2009) and once redrafted the amended version will be sent out to interested parties for additional consultation.

Results

The Parish Plan steering group felt that the results of the questionnaire should be published in number form (rather than %) as they feel this gives a true reflection of the views of the residents. To view the results for each section of the questionnaire , click on the pdf files below:

The results of the transport section of the plan have now been sent off to the Isle of Wight Council Highways Department. This document outlines the views of residents and includes all the suggestions for traffic improvements in different areas in the parish (click on pdf file below to view). These have all been listed in the plan and the parish council will hold regular meetings with the IWC Highways Department to determine what, if any traffic improvements can be carried out in these areas. We will keep you informed on progress
